EMB #102: Digestion with Holistic Nutritionist Rick Kohut 2

Digestion is the topic in this Episode of Exploring Mind and Body.  We interview Holistic Nutritionist Rick Kohut who is the owner of Health Street, a biofeed back practitioner and a local farmer.

Rick specializes in Digestion so we thought it would be a good idea to dedicate the show to this topic.

We cover:

  • Acid reflux
  • indigestion
  • food combining
  • Energy and digestion
  • Antacids (Tums, Rolaids)

And of course Rick goes over more so prevention as opposed to treatment.  He’ll tell you have to avoid digestion problems, those uncomfortable stomach issues after a meal, even how to sleep better and feel energized in the morning.

Rick was generous enough to take some time out of his busy schedule write a few words on how to improve digestion.

Improving your digestion can be the best thing you ever do for your health, but it’s hard to sift through the confusion of the mixed messages we get everyday. So, here are three important things you should know so you can CLEAN UP YOUR DIGESTION and make your tummy happier!
There are 3 main ways people abuse their digestive system. If you put some effort into limiting or avoiding these circumstances you will reduce the abuse on your guts!

  • Fake Foods (Processed Foods, Sugar, Artificial ingredients, Preservatives)
  • Improper Food Combining (Simple Carbs with Meats mainly)
  • Stressful Eating (Eating while emotional, upset or angry)

The situations above require the body to spend more energy to digest food, thus leaving less energy for improving immune system function, cellular recovery, effective detoxification and maintenance functions. Prolonged abuse of these types can lead to severe illness.

Rick Kohut, RHN

And if you want to take your digestion to the next level, Rick wrote a simple and very informative post that is titled Get Rid of Food Violations and Meal-time Violations.

Thanks so much for the info Rick.  Hope you enjoy the show everyone, and if you’re looking for more information about Rick or how you can contact him, you’ll find links below that will do just that!
